Stingray 60 by Mk II

Introducing our homage to one of the first dive watches ever produced, the vintage Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. Shown below is the new Stingray 60 case with our Type I date dial and Type I hands. Two new dials and handsets are currently in production for this watch that will emmulate vintage styles of this historic design. In keeping with our custom watch philosophy the watch has been designed to work with all of our 28 mm dials and compatible hand sets. In addition to new dials customers will be able choose from several bezel and bezel insert designs.

For those that have been asking, pre-orders at a discounted rate will be accepted beginning in January of 2007, at which time the main e-commerce site will be updated. Delivery is expected to begin around May/June 2007. Customers will be able to pre-order either Swiss Made or Custom Mk II Stingrays. The Swiss Made Stingrays will be offered with a specific dial and hand set combination but customers will be able to select a bezel and bezel insert of their choice. Custom customers will be able to select their dial, handset, case finish, and bezel/bezel insert style.

Please stay tuned for updates and additional details about this latest offering. The first dial design will debut in the coming weeks.

  1. Very exciting addition Bill. I hope bead-blasted finish is an option (Aluminum oxide for that vintage look). Great idea!

  2. Thanks Kevin. Yes bead blasting will be an option. AlOx doesn’t produce as durable a finish as glass beads but you can mix them to get a darker color (more vintage feel) and balance the durability as well.

  8. Bill, congrats on the new watch, its a classic.

I have a question about the Swiss models (inc the MMT Swiss).

What is the deal with the shipping..?? I have got 4 watches from you in the US sent to Europe and a few of them get caught in customs, and that means +22%.

Is there any option for the Swiss watches to be sent directly from Switzerland to us people in Europe.??

This would save in both customs fees and also international shipping to us. Not to mention shipping the watch originally from the EU to the US.

    Looking forward to your answer.

    Thanks

  9. An Omega 300 homage is something to consider thank you for suggestion.

As for shipping to the EU I wish I knew of an easy way to do this. The reason why the watches ship from the US is because I prefer to do the QC work here to make sure all of the assembly work is done correctly. In addition I also do the final installation of the bezel inserts here in the US because I want the alignment to be as perfect as possible. If I were to contract that part of the assembly out I am not sure it would get the attention that it needs. If someone can educate me as to how to get the watches into the EU legally without incurring such a high penalty for consumers there I would love to hear it. Its an area that I have to do more research on.

  10. @Deano: Switzerland is not part of the EU. You have to pay customs as well if shipped from there directly to any EU country.

@Bill: I guess there is no legal option. It’s just the way global economies work…
    BTW, I love your work!

  11. The only way to ship the watches without your customers having to pay large taxes is: ship them as a sample, non commercial value or as a gift. Perhaps not completly legal I’m not sure about that but it seems to work for me with watches shipped from singapore and Hong Kong to me.

    Regards,

    Jos

PS: I really look forward to this new watch from you.
