I fallen a little behind at the moment on e-mails and shipments of watches. The movements didn’t arrive early enough for me to finish any watches last week since I had to review them to make sure there weren’t any hidden problems. Watch shipments will resume by the middle of this week.
The Vantage pages will go up sometime tomorrow. I also spent quite a bit of time over the last week finalizing details for the ordering pages, taking photos, and reviewing the bracelet samples. The pictures of the Vantage that will be posted tomorrow are what the mass production will look like with one important exception. The preview of the new hands that were commissioned for this project won’t be ready until the 3 week of this month so I substituted some Stick and Ball hands and the sweep seconds hand off the Sea Fighter. Its close enough for now but I didn’t want anyone to think I have lost my attention to detail
The one spot of bad news is that the SKX007 sapphires are going to be out of stock for at least another two months. The Monster sapphires are still in stock.
The Sea Fighter pages I hope to have up in the next week or so…
Recent custom Seikos
After fighting with the camera and my photography for a number of years now I can’t tell you how excited I am to finally be producing photos that truly compliment my work. Attached are two photos of Seikos that I finished recently. I wish I had had the set up that I do now three years ago but at least the last group of Seikos that I will be working on will be catalogued the way I had always hoped. But at least I will be able catalog our up coming product launches as well as the current MMT and QUAD10 watches as new versions are finished for customers.
Since I won’t be offering the Seikos directly any more and I have decided to limit our strap options to one or two styles as soon as our current stocks run out I am listing recommended sources for watches and parts that we won’t be offering. The vendors listed are people or companies that I have done business with for quite some time and/or have a good reputation in the wider watch community.
Thanks to Jaimie (aka SOXC) we have a new SPAM filter too so once again readers will be able to post on the blog.
Seiko Parts FAQs
I hope to update this with more information as I answer e-mail from customers. As this list grows and I will upate the main site FAQ as well:
* Do our dials fit the quartz Seiko divers? Unfortunately not. The chapter ring is molded directly to the dial instead of being a separate piece as on the mechanical Seiko divers. In addition the dial feet are in a completely different position from that of the mechanical 7s26 movement.
* Do our parts fit the mid-size Seiko mechanical divers? Yes and no. the parts that we offer will fit the movement in the mid-size watch but the case is too small for the length and diameter of the parts that we offer. For example the dials will end up with much of the markers covered by the chapter ring because of the smaller case opening. In addition, the hands probably won’t clear the chapter ring as you try to install a movement with the new dial and hands because of the smaller case opening.
more to come….
