Status: Shipments
Customer watch orders due to have shipped before 3/31 are going out today. There is a problem with the USPS site so I can’t print the normal labels I use and as a result notifications aren’t going to go notify customers automatically about shipment. I will have to manually e-mail the delivery confirmation information later tonight once I return from the post office.
Basically all watch orders have been or are close to completion. At this time there is one Seiko and a few Blackwaters due to ship out later this week. The Blog has been updated with revised shipment information.

I will be answering e-mails this afternoon. I apologize for the delay in getting back to people. I have been pre-occupied with the ice that came down last Friday and getting a number of watches prepared. I received a large order for some Seikos, all of which needed a full case work done and I am trying to get the case work out of the way as early as possible.
Orderstatus e-mails are up to date and all that I have received up until early Wedneday afternoon have been taken care of. I will continue with other e-mails Thursday.
March 11th: Upcoming Vacation
We will be away between April 11th through May 20th on vacation. I had considered shutting down the site while I am away but realized that there is a lot of maintenance that is long overdue…not to mention it might misinterpreted. Among other things we haven’t changed our prices in about 2 years despite numerous increases in the price of various components. The last day to submit orders with our “old” prices will be March 31st. From April 1st through May 14th the login/checkout functions on our site will be disabled so that we can make the changes and perform the updates we need to take care of.
While you will not be able to login/checkout between April 1st and May 14th the cart function will work so that you can continue to browse our site and price out future purchases/projects. However when you go to “checkout” or “login” you will be re-directed to an information page explaining that we aren’t taking orders at that time. Please note that between May 14th and May 21st we will not be able to process orders. If you place an order during that time you will receive a response after we are back on the 21st. Also between April 1st and May 14th the prices you see in the “Cart” may differ from those listed on the site because price changes do not propagate automatically throughout the entire site.
We should be able to answer e-mails while we are away if I should have any problems accessing e-mail I will post a note here on the blog.
As we work to ship our orders before we leave on the 10th please note that e-mails to our info account may go unanswered until after April 20th. We are currently running one week behind schedule which would be fine but we got a “late” order from one our dealers for custom Seikos that we need to fill before we leave.
February 15th
Got snowed in today so orders that were supposed to ship today won’t ship until Saturday. For those customers sorry for the additional delay. For orders submitted in the last couple of days you will receive your confirmation e-mails in the next day or two.
In other news…those deposits for the Stingray received by the 10th should have received an e-mail by this time with a copy of their sales order attached. If you didn’t receive this e-mail please contact me. For orders received earlier this week we are a little backlogged at the moment and will clear up the backlog by the end of the weekend.
January 23rd
I am about 80% better now and orders are finally going out the door again at a reasonable pace. Over the course of the week I will be getting to the e-mails that have backed up.
For those customers waiting for a confirmation of their orders we are finally caught up for orders placed up until about 3 pm Monday. My apologies for the lower service level that a few customers experienced as my cold was keeping me from a normal pace last week.
One other quick note about lead times…in about a week or so they will unfortunately shoot up to about 16 weeks because of some traveling that I have scheduled in April/May. This will mean that orders for custom watches placed after roughly this week, give or take a few days, will be delivered in June. Naturally for those customers that place orders hoping for a March delivery but receive an estimated deliivery date in June and want to cancel their orders your request will be graciously accomodated as I know this an abnormally long lead time even for me.
More news in coming days…..Thanks for everyone’s patience and support while I was sick this month.
January 12th
Orders and the processing of new orders has been going very slow this week. I have been sick for the past 10 days and it came to a head this week. I basically have been asleep for the last 2 days. At the moment I am about 2 weeks behind schedule on watch orders and about 1 week behind on parts shipments. My apologies for this inconvenience. I expect to ship some orders tomorrow and re-organize the schedule over the weekend.
January 5th
Happy new year to everyone!
I will finally be answering the phone and working down the e-mails in my inbox starting Friday. When I got back from NYC last week I tried taking a vitamin with a ginseng extract in it. Unfortunately I was taking the vitamin about 11.30 at night and for five days couldn’t figure out why I would sleep for only three hours, then was completely wired for the next 4 hours and then slept for 9 hours after that. As a result I ended up completely strung out and on Hawaii time until I realized those damned vitamins were actually keeping me up. It took me much of this week to get back to a normal schedule again. The rest of my time has been spent cleaning up the mess around the office from the Holiday season shipments.
A photo of a pre-production sample of the first dial for the Stingray will be posted in about a week. We should also have a couple more interesting announcements to make this month so please stay tuned!
Unfortunately I have had to fully moderate the blog now. Comments will only be allowed for certain threads to keep the SPAMers at bay. I get about 200-300 SPAM messages a week advertising some of the wierdest most random junk imagineable and I was getting tired of taking out the trash all the time.
Updates: December 5th
Things have been quiet here on the surface at Mk II. Behind the scenes I have been hard at work preparing for the holiday season, delivering orders, putting into place new procedures to improve customer service and developing new products for 2007. The new year will bring two new Mk II watch models (more on that later) and new offerings for the Seiko parts line. Pictures of the case for the much anticipated Fifty Fathoms homage will be posted tomorrow. As for the Seiko parts line many of you have been very patient with me but its been too long since we introduced something new. In the coming months we will be asking for customer input regarding new designs and parts for the Seiko product line.
The new year will also bring some hard choices for me. After much thought I have come to the realization that I will have to stop offering custom Seikos directly. Instead Mk II will continue to design and offer parts only. As much as I love the Seiko watches as a platform for customization given their versatility, quality and ruggedness the watches just require more time and resources than I can afford to dedicate as the business continues to grow. I hope that by doing this I will be better able to expand the dealer network to other regions, take better care of the dealers that I currently have, and leave me more time to expand the parts offering for Seikos. The last day to order custom Seikos directly from Mk II will be January 15th, 2007.
In recent weeks I have fallen off the pace a little bit when it comes to deliveries due to the holidays and my daughter catching something from her cousins when they visited over Thanksgiving. Production is now gradually getting back on track. Thanks for everyone’s patience.
October 23rd
I was out of the office between Thursday through Saturday of last week. I will be processing those orders/requests received while I was away tomorrow. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Sept. 12th
I am pleased to announce that the new order status portal is up and running. Customers can now check via the online system the status of their orders here:
http://www.blogmkiiwatches.com/csportal/orderstatus.htm
All orders placed should have received an e-mail with a PDF copy of their sales order attached within 24-48 hours, on average, of placing their order. With your sales order number and combined with the postal code from you billing address on file with Mk II you will be able to review the status of your order and check in for messages. To read more about the the order status system see the FAQ at the bottom of the page referenced in the link above. The order status system has been updated with all of our current open orders to date.
We that hope that this new feature will be a welcome enhancement to your Mk II custom watch experience.
